• Leave the Northeast corner open and clutter-free since it is the zone of clarity and prosperity.
• Arrange seating so that family members face North or East while sitting.
• Avoid blocking the North or East wall with furniture.
• Don’t keep a sofa directly against the East or North wall. It restricts the energy flow. A few inches gap is recommended.

Colours To Avoid

It is always better to paint your walls in lighter shades. You should avoid dull or dark colours, like

• Red

• Black,

• Dark Grey

• Bright Orange

This can cause aggression, tension and conflicts to arise.

#3 Electronics & Appliances Placement

• Keep the TV in the Southeast direction. Since this direction is owned by Agni, the Lord of Fire, it prevents negative effects from spreading.
• Speakers, Wi-Fi routers and other electronics should also be in the Southeast.
• Never place the TV in the Northeast. It disrupts mental clarity and peace.
• Avoid keeping electrical items in the North or East direction.

#4 Mirror Placement

• North or East walls are the best for mirror placement. This is because they reflect positive energy and expand the space.
• Never keep mirrors on the South or West walls. It can lead to financial instability and health issues.
• If you have a mirror in the South or West wall, cover it with a curtain when not in use.

#5 Lighting in the Living Room

• Make sure to use bright, warm lighting (yellow or warm white) in the living room. Dark space and dim, flickering or harsh LED lights attract negative energy.
• Install lighting in the Southeast or East to enhance prosperity.
• Keep a Himalayan salt lamp in the Northeast to absorb negative energy.
• Light a diya or lamp in the Northeast corner during evenings to enhance positivity.
• Avoid dim lighting. It causes dullness and a lack of motivation.

#6 Avoid Clutter

Vastu’s number 1 rule is to remove what doesn’t serve you.

• Throw away anything that’s broken, like damaged clocks or cracked furniture. Remove the dried flowers, old newspapers, unused items, etc. These accumulate negative energy.
• Keep the centre of the room open and clean for the energy to flow freely.
• Don’t forget the corners. Keep it a habit to declutter corners as energy can stay trapped in those unattended spaces.

#7 Artwork & Decor

• Keep paintings of flowing water, landscapes, or the rising sun as they symbolise growth. Avoid paintings of war, wild animals, or crying/sad people, as they attract negative emotions.
• Have family photos on the North or East wall. It promotes harmony and togetherness.
• Keep indoor plants like money plants, areca palm, or bamboo. It helps purify the air and brings positivity.
