Dining Table Vastu Shastra

Stress, constant arguments, money problems- do they sound familiar? Your dining table might be the hidden reason, quietly working against you. Designing a dining table as per Vastu is crucial!

#1 Placing the Dining Table in the Wrong Direction

Is your dining table placed in the southwest or northeast corner of your house? Big mistake! A wrongly faced dining table can disrupt the energy flow in the house.

• Make sure you place your dining table in the west, east, north or northwest direction. It brings positive vibrations and aids in better digestion.

#2 Choosing the Wrong Dining Table Shape

Is your dining table’s shape round or oval? Not ideal. Any irregular shapes- a big no-no! A dining table’s shape can affect the energy around it. A wrongly shaped one can disrupt harmony and cause disagreements and tension among family members.

• Your table should either be square or rectangular. It brings balance, harmony and stability.
• Make sure to design a dining room table that doesn’t have sharp edges, as it can create aggressive energy to prevail and lead to unnecessary conflicts.

#3 Sitting in the Wrong Direction

Where you sit matters! If you are sitting facing the south direction while waiting, you shouldn’t be! It causes digestive and financial troubles. Also, go for an even number of chairs, since odd numbers can disrupt the harmony.

• If you are the head of the family, sit facing the east direction. It brings clarity and wisdom.
• Other family members should sit facing the east, north, or west direction. It brings good health, wealth and prosperity.

#4 Choosing Wrong Colours for Your Dining Area

Is your dining area painted in dark blue, dark red, grey or black colour? It’s time to repaint! Dark colours make you feel dull, and conversations heavy while eating. They also suppress your appetite and lower your energy.

• Use warm, earthy colours, like yellow, cream, pastel green, beige, or soft orange for your dining area. It brings positive energy flow.

#5 Incorrect Placement of Your Dining Table

Is your dining table placed directly under the beam? It's time to relocate. It creates pressure and stress. Or if that’s not possible, install a false ceiling or decorative hangings to reduce the hostile effect.

If it is placed in a direct view from the main entrance, it attracts negative energy.

• Make sure, your dining take is placed in the centre of the room.
• It should be away from walls, allowing for smooth energy flow.

#6 Not Having Mirrors in the Dining Area

If you have a mirror in your dining area, and if your food reflects on it, it doubles, right? That’s a dining table Vastu jackpot! It symbolises abundance and wealth.

• Make sure the mirror is not dirty and cracked.
• Also, the mirror should not face the entrance, as it repels wealth instead of attracting it.

#7 Keeping Your Dining Table Messy

A cluttered dining table can attract financial instability. If you leave your used plate, tissues, or random stuff on the dining table, it blocks the positive energy.

• A primary rule in Vastu is to keep the house clean, organised & tidy. The same applies to your dining table too.
• Make sure you don’t leave your dishes overnight, as it invites negativity into your home.

#8 Your Dining Area has a Bad Lighting

If your dining area has dim, harsh white or flickering lights, it is bad, as it is unwelcoming. Poor lighting can spoil family time since it lowers the energy level and kills the joy of eating together.

• Use warm, soft lighting for your dining area. It creates a cosy ambience.
• Keep a chandelier above the dining table, as it enhances energy and bonding.

#9 Wrong Placement of The Appliances in Your Dining Area

If the appliances in your dining area are not properly placed, it could disrupt the positive energy flow. Make sure

• Your fridge is placed in the southeast corner
• Your wash basin is placed in the northeast corner
• Your microwave is placed in the southeast corner

#10 Having the Wrong Decor in the Dining Area

Do you have violent or sad paintings in your dining space? Have dried or artificial flowers in the vase?- Change!

• Make sure you hang nature or food-themed artwork
• Have fresh plants, like bamboo or money plant

#11 Choosing the Wrong Dining Table Material

Is your dining table, fully made of glass, marble or metal? It’s time for a new purchase! It is because, these materials can create an unstable energy flow, and cause emotional detachment.

• You can choose wood material for your dining table. It represents strength and stability.
