The colours used during Holi, especially chemical-based ones, can leave stubborn stains on walls, furniture, carpets, and more. Here’s how to protect different areas of your home from hard-to-remove Holi colours. 

1. Walls (Use Washable or Oil-Based Paint & Anti-Stain Varnish)

Walls are one of the most affected areas during Holi. If they are not well protected, colours can spread and leave ugly stains. Follow these steps:

• Apply washable or oil-based paint: These types of paints allow easy cleaning and prevent colours from sticking permanently.
• Use an anti-stain varnish: If oil-based paint is not applied to your walls, then go for a transparent varnish layer over painted walls. This adds extra protection and makes it easier to wipe off stains.
• Cover walls: If possible, temporarily cover walls with plastic sheets or old bedsheets where people will be playing.

2. Furniture (Cover and Protect from Colour Splashes)

Wooden furniture can easily absorb colours which makes it difficult to clean them later.

• Cover furniture with old bedsheets or plastic covers: This prevents direct contact with Holi colours.

5. Electronic Appliances (Keep Them Safe with Platic Covers)

Electronic appliances like TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines can get damaged if colours seep into their surfaces.

• Cover appliances with plastic sheets: This prevents direct exposure to colours and water.
