What Are Arched Windows?

Arched windows feature a curved top like a semicircle, with a rectangular base. This maintains  a clean yet classic look that works well in almost any room. These windows are mostly used above French doors or large windows. It's a win-win because you get a traditional look that’s clean and modern  and visually adds height to your room.

Here are seven uPVC arched window designs that can elevate your interiors.

1. Full-Arch uPVC Windows

This window is curved all the way from one end to the other, there are no straight sides at all. The full arch creates a smooth, rounded shape that looks elegant and bold at the same time. These windows usually don’t open, but they let in a lot of light and create a dramatic effect, especially in tall spaces like staircases, entry halls, or large living rooms.

Full-arch uPVC arched window designs create a dramatic focal point that makes any space feel more luxurious.

2. Segmented Arch Windows

These windows have a curved top made up of smaller panes, separated by slim lines. This design gives the arch a more detailed look, almost like a fan or sunburst. It’s perfect for adding texture and character without being too flashy. People often use these decorative window styles in kitchens, attic spaces, or work areas where they want something eye-catching that still feels classic.

The segmented look adds visual interest and gives a more detailed appearance that works well in transitional interiors.

3. Gothic-Style Pointed Arches

Inspired by old European architecture, this design has a tall, narrow shape with a pointed arch at the top. It was first seen in old churches and buildings, but now it works beautifully in modern homes too. The point at the top draws the eye upward, which can make small spaces feel taller. These arched style modern uPVC windows fit best in quiet areas like bedrooms, reading corners, or calm sitting rooms.

4. Sliding or Tilt-and-Turn Arched Windows

Most arched windows are fixed, but this style lets you open the window too. You can either slide it or tilt it inward, depending on the design. The curved top stays in place, while the lower section opens like a regular window, giving you airflow without losing the curved design.

You get both functionality and flair. The curve keeps things soft while the operable design adds convenience.

5. Colonial Grid Arched Windows

This style has a grid of small squares or rectangles inside the glass. The arch sits on top, while the lower part remains straight and symmetrical. It looks clean and traditional, which is why it’s often used in colonial-style houses. 6. Small Cottage-Style Arched Windows

You’ll often see them above kitchen sinks, in powder rooms, or along stair landings. Some homeowners enhance these decorative window styles by installing two or three in a row to let in more light and create a charming rhythm.

They make small areas feel thoughtful and cozy. Their compact size also makes them versatile in tight layouts.

7. Bay Windows with Arched Tops

This design combines a standard bay window or box window (which has three panels that angle out from the wall) with arched tops on each panel.
